Tennis is one of the oldest ballgames. The current rules of the game were established in 1874, by an Englishman named W. Wingfield. There are many tournaments around the globe, both indoors and outdoors, but the four most prestigious to win are the grand slams: US Open, Wimbledon, French Open and Australian Open. Betting on tennis is increasingly popular and the title matches has large amounts at stakes, especially the grand slams.
US Open
In the beginning the US Open was a single men's tournament called U.S. National Championships. It was held the first time in 1881 only for entertainment purposes. Later also women's singles, men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles also became a part of the tradition. Nowadays the event is one of the finest tournaments in the world open to both amateurs and professionals.
Wimbledon
Starting in 1877 with a garden party atmosphere, The Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon have turned into one of the four biggest tennis tournaments in the world, with an attendance of over half a million people. Players from more than 60 countries compete every year in front of millions of TV viewers.
French Open
This is the second largest grand slam tournments. Its named the Tournoi de Roland-Garros (i.e Roland Garros Tournament), It is held in Paris, France in the middle of May to the beginning of June and is the second of the world's Grand Slam tournaments.The French open is held on a clay court something that fits some players style but not others such as Pete Sampras. The swedish player Björn Borg has won most french open single titles (6).
Australian Open
This tournament is held in January in Melbourne, Australia. It is played on a hard court outside and indoors (if bad weather) at the Rod Laver Arena.
