A Little Effort Can Get You $20,000 Free Cash
By Michael Williams (4/27/2006)
The most common mistake dime playing investors make costs them on average
$20,000 every baseball season. It would be safe to assume that a gambler would
make about 400 baseball bets per season. This is about 2 bets a day.
If you are not getting the best value for each and every bet you make, you
are losing out on a lot of money. Getting the best value on your dogs does not
matter when you lose. Getting the best value when you bet favorites does not
matter when you win. So what we find is that value matters in about half of your
bets.
Most people only bet with one sportsbook because they get too comfortable
with a sportsbook. By only joining one sportsbook, you are keeping yourself from
getting the best odds. Odds vary from sportsbook to sportsbook and you can see
as much difference as 10-15 points on the moneyline. If it was a dog and you won,
then you are leaving $100-150 on the table. Joining multiple sportsbooks is
essential to keep this from happening.
The second problem with betting on one sportsbook is that they get to monitor
your betting patterns. Do you love betting underdogs, favorites? Do you take
teams down big at half time? Do you bet on favorites on the run lines? Do you
love betting on Overs? If you have a consistent pattern of what you bet, you can
almost guarantee that the spread you get will be adjusted against you. For
example, if you consistently bet Overs, you will start to see a lot more juice
placed on your Overs as compared to another gambler at the same sportsbook.
We have a large network of analysts and gamblers monitoring this phenomenon
at multiple sportsbooks.
Additionally, sportsbooks understand that people are shopping lines so they
are starting to go out of their way to offer a better line. Some offer absurdly
good lines for the favorites and some for the underdogs. They know you are
shopping your lines and are looking to get your business.
Instead of logging into every sportsbook one at a time, use a
sportsbook odds comparison website like
ours for baseball season.
